C. 700-1100. Viking Age. Silver gilt amulet featuring a disc shape with an integral suspension loop. The central section depicts the god Odin gripping two ravens. The ravens probably represent Hugin and Munin (pronounced “HOO-gin” and “MOO-nin”; Old Norse Huginn and Muninn), two ravens in Norse mythology who are helping spirits of Odin, the god of knowledge, war and battle.
