莲花生，八世纪印度那烂陀寺僧人及云游僧，后应寂护论师与藏王赤松德赞入藏创立僧团，后人尊称为莲师。由于后世弟子的极度崇拜，所带入的密法称为前译派，为今宁玛派所信奉。此唐卡中的莲花生头戴莲花冠，左手托嘎巴拉碗，右手持金刚杵，左臂弯曲夹住三毒首三叉戟。主尊右侧是其印度明妃曼达拉娃，左侧是藏族明妃益希嘉措。唐卡中人物造型生动逼真，形象庄严，身姿优美，构图布局简洁明快，素净高雅，具有强烈的汉地风格。
