Footnote: Footnote: The Shropshire & Montgomeryshire Light Railway was in operation between 1911 and 1960, and served as a munitions route during the Second World War. The line was taken over and extended by S&MLR from the original Potteries, Shrewsbury & North Wales railway which had fallen into disuse since the 1890s. Because of this, the line was often referred to locally as the 'Potts Railway', giving rise to the road name 'Old Potts Way' in Shrewsbury town.
