此卧牛摆件以精铜为质，一牛跪卧，造型生动憨厚，牛角内弯，双目圆睁，牛首微微抬起，平视前方。入手舒适。憨厚之态，颇讨人喜爱。包浆浑厚，为案头文房佳器。在传统文化中，牛有着极高的象征意义。《周易》中称「坤为牛」，即牛是坤卦的象征物，「坤像地任重而顺，故为牛也」。为清代铜雕精工之作。背饰有梅花锦纹袱，上有宝瓶香插，造型精细逼真。原应为香插一件，插香口被后人填入宝石。底部有一伤，被藏家填入料器。
