玛哈嘎拉意译应为大黑天、救怙主，原来是古代印度的战神，引入佛教后，很受密教的崇奉，是观音菩萨化现的大护法，在护法中地位很高，同时也是密宗修法所依止的重要本尊，此件拍品是玛哈嘎拉比较经典的六臂形象，左脚站立，头向左侧微倾，戴五骷髅冠，火焰状竖发上扬，上身饰璎珞，下身围兽皮，六手各执法器，胸前双手，铸造技艺精湛，面部表情刻画尤为突出，其忿怒像使人视之不寒而栗，将主像之法力无边展现得淋漓尽致。
