A Satsuma incense burner Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century The flat sided ovoid vase set on two feet, applied with loop handles and with a domed cover finished with a bird finial, painted in polychrome enamels and gilt with two panels of visitors at a temple, and warriors storming a villa, the sides with geometric and floral designs and scenes of people dining, the cover with floral brocade patterns, signed Dai Nihonkoku Satsuma Hozan kore o tsukuru (This was made by Satsuma Hozan of the Great Land of Japan) 4 1/2in (11.5cm) high
