PROVENANCE: From the Collections of Franklin Wood (1924-2019) Cartersville, GA. Franklin was born in a small farmhouse near White GA in 1924. After spending his early childhood on the family farm the family moved to the City of Cartersville where he attended school graduating in 1942. Franklin entered the Navy as a cadet aviator. On March 3, 1943, John was commissioned an Ensign and received his Wings of Gold, becoming one of the Navy's youngest naval aviators. In 1947, Franklin was retired from the Navy. He was a civilian flight instructor, supervisor and squadron commander in the Primary Training Squadron Flying Training Air Force. He met his wife Ying Su while she was attending flight training safety courses. Ying Su came from a prominent family in China. Her family blessed her marriage with numerous pieces of porcelains and Jade. The items in this sale are from her collection. Dimensions (cm): Length: 22 Height: 12 Width: 4 Chinese Ming Dynasty Period Blue & white Scrolling motif Five Peaks porcelain Brush stand. Potted in Thick, rectangular body, five mountain with center high on the upper holder brush, raised with flat rectangle foot base. The blue and white brush holder are decorated with scrolling ruyi, flowers and auspicious ornament. This porcelain has delicate, exquisite fetal. The white glaze is thick, smooth with contrast color. While the blue and white glaze used plain materials, elegant and pleasant. The foot base rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks.
