Dimensions (cm): Length: 260 Width: 120 Height: 86 Chinese Ming Dynasty Period Demountable Huanghuali elaborate Carved Large Table. The table top is made of a single piece large and small Huanghuali wood. Four braces back the top beneath. The apron under the "waist" (suoyao, the contracted part of a piece of Chinese furniture) supporting the table top is carved with ripe fruit and flowers patterns. The four legs are fully decorated with floral designs, ending with inward-curving horse hoof feet. The table is made of large timber. This Chinese table gives the impression of luxury, strong, magnificent, charming and antique. Huanghuali, or yellow flowering pear wood, Originally know as huali or huali, the color can range from reddish-brown to golden-yellow. The sweet fragrance of huali distinguishes it from the similar appearing but pungent-adored hongmu. The finest Huanghuali has a translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns that delight the eye. It has distinctive form and elegant ornamentation. It is intact, with exquisite mortise-tenon technique.
