A large 18th century iron 'Armada' chest, probably German The sprung lock mechanism opening by single key from lid, the cartouche lock plate with scroll decoration, with wrought iron swing handles to sides. 89cm wide, 52cm high, 53cm deep Condition report: General signs of age and use as expected commensurate with period, the painted detail is later, there is a typical patina and areas of surface rust, the locking mechanism is working. Two hinges are lacking pins. The interior is fair and reasonably clean with also later applied grey paint. Please refer to images.
