The lid engraved with a crest of atop a cap of maintenance a peacock, above initials in cypher, and Graham Edmund Henry Manners Sutton from Robin Walpole. Gilt interior. Length – 14.2 cm / 5.5 inches Weight – 416 grams / 13.37 ozt Graham Edmund Henry Manners Sutton (1843-1888) son of John Henry Thomas Manners-Sutton, 3rd Viscount Canterbury (1814-1877) and Georgiana Tompson (d.1899). His brother, Henry Charles Manners-Sutton, 4th Viscount Canterbury (1839-1917) married Amye Rachel Walpole d.1935) daughter of Commander Hon. Frederick Walpole (1822-1876) and was therefore brother of Robert Horace Walpole, (1854-1931), who succeeded to the titles of 6th Baron Walpole of Wolterton, co. Norfolk [G.B., 1756], 8th Baron Walpole of Walpole, co. Norfolk [G.B., 1723] and 5th Earl of Orford [Second Creation U.K., 1806] on 7 December 1894. Upon Robert or ‘Robin’s’ death, the earldom became extinct. The title Baron Walpole of Wolerton Hall moved to his kinsman, Robert Henry Montgomerie Walpole, 9th Baron Walpole of Walpole (1913-1989), through their mutual ancestor Horatio Walpole, 1st Baron Walpole of Wolterton (1678-1757), the brother of the famed first Prime Minister Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford (1676-1745) (first creation U.K 1742).
