A Victorian sterling silver coffee pot, Birmingham 1841 by G R Collis & Co Of shaped circular form with a curved spout opposite a C scroll handle with ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets. The hinged disc lid surmounted by a detachable cast finial of a Chinaman seated upon a tea chest. The body and lid all over decorated with engraved foliate scrolls and flower heads, a vacant cartouche to each side.The underside of spout with chinoiserie engraving of a three-story pagoda between palm trees. An engraved presentation inscription underneath reading “January 1842 presented to William Hodgson, Esquire, by Thomas Denton, Sarah Denton and Mary Anne Denton, as a token of their esteem and gratitude for their careful management of the property bequeathed to them by their late father Pym Denton esquire deceased.”.
