A George III sterling silver teapot, London 1818 by Alice and George Burrows (reg. 10th July 1801) Of compressed oval form wither everted ‘cape’ neck, all raised upon four ball feet. The body with half-fluted decoration, and to the curved spout opposite an acanthus a shell capped C scroll handle, fitted with ivory insulators pinned to scroll junctions. The neck with a gadrooned rim with splayed scallop shells flanked with acorns and oak leaves. The hinged domed lid with a detachable acanthus calyx finial atop of fluting. The side engraved with traces of a crest of a wyvern. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to lid, the finial unmarked and retaining nut with lion passant only. Length – 28.5 cm / 11.4 inches Weight – 691 grams / 22.22 ozt
