An early George II sterling silver covered sugar bowl, London 1729 by Edward Cornock (this mark reg. 25th Nov 1723) Of hemi-spherical form upon a domed circular foot with an incised line., the applied rim with incised concentric rings. The pull-out lid with an everted foot and an incised line to either side of edge. Fully marked underneath and to interior of lid. Diameter – 10.6 cm / 4.2 inches Weight – 7.5 cm / 2.9 inches Cornock appreciated to Henry Grant on the 9th Feb 1698, first mark entered as a largeworker 14th July 1707. Working at Gutter lane 1723-1731, a specialist maker of tobacco boxes. A sugar bowl and cover of 1730 by this maker of the exact same form is in the V&A collection (M.164:1, 2-1939)
