A WALNUT AND OYSTER VENEERED CHEST OF DRAWERS, ELEMENTS LATE 17TH CENTURY AND LATER, the rectangular top with geometrical circular strung design on oyster ground, above two short and three long drawers with crossbanded borders, with gilt metal handles, on later bracket feet 87cm high x 95cm wide x 56cm deep Provenance: Property from an English private collection. Condition Report: One of the handles has come off and is in the drawer. There is evidence that the handles on the two top drawers have been moved, possibly to fit the locks. There is a section of the moulding on the back left foot that is missing and a crack in the same place on there other side. There is a corner missing on the back panel. There are a number of areas where the veneer has warped or lifted, particularly to the satinwood on both sides just under the top and around the edge of the top. There is a piece of moulding missing from around the bottom left of the first long drawer. There is a stain to the moulding beneath the first long drawer. There is an 8.5cm long sliver of veneer missing to the back edge of the left side of the chest, just beneath the top. There are some small pieces of veneer missing, mainly to the edges of the drawers. There are small cracks and general wear to the rest of the chest.
