Flemish School, 17th century Head of a man in lamentation oil on canvas laid down on board 35 x 27cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been laid onto a wooden panel. There are minor undulations across the surface where the canvas is not completely adhered to the panel. The canvas has suffered from damage and tears in the past. The paint layer is very worn with abrasion following the tops of the canvas weave. There are areas of retouching following abrasion. The extent of the overpaint around the sitter’s features is difficult to determine due to the surface texture and degraded varnish layer.
