A pair of George I elm side chairs, early 18th century, each with a vase-shaped splat over a solid seat and raised on turned stretchered supports, 46cm wide 37cm deep 101cm high (2) Provenance: Hotham Hall, East Yorkshire. Condition report: Seat 48cm high. Old worm to back and legs, one chair with replacement front foot. Second chair with two new feet. Repaired splits to seat. Both with old knocks and polished-in dents. Good colour and a pleasant patina. Joints slightly loose in places.
