A George III scarlet lacquered and gilt chinoiserie tripod table, c.1760, in the manner of Giles Grendey, the hinged circular top decorated with figures, mountains, pagodas and blossoming trees, within a foliate border, above a ring turned and baluster column, raised on outswept supports, 76.5cm diameter 72.5cm high Condition report: Craquelure to lacquer. Overpainted chips and scratches, and re-touching to lacquer throughout. 23cm split to the right-hand side of the top, of which 10cm is visible from the front. Knocks to rim of top. Some rubbing and losses to gilt. Splits to block at the top of the column. Joints a little loose. Possible repair to feet. Evidence of possible alteration. General knocks, scratches and wear throughout.
