Andre Albert Marie Dunoyer de Segonzac (1884 - 1974) French. Watercolor. Measure 9 1/2"in H x 11 1/2"in W and 15 1/2"in H x 18 1/2"in W with frame. Known for: Modernist landscape, nudes, still life painting, war drawings, camouflage, etching. Andre Dunoyer de Segonzac started his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1900 before he became a pupil of Luc-Olivier Merson and later of Jean-Paul Laurens. He also attended the Academie la Palette in Montparnasse. In 1908 Segonzac first drawings were already published in various magazines. In the same year he showed his first works at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Independants. During this time he spent the summer months painting on the French Riviera.From the 1930s onwards he was represented in all major exhibitions in Europe and America, such as the Venice Biennale and the documenta 2 in Kassel. Today works by Segonzac can be found in the MoMA in New York, the Tate Gallery and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London as well as the Albertina in Vienna.
