山子由山体及座托两部分组成。均木质。山子状如祥云，孔洞上下左右不无通透，立体肌理褶皱纵横，疏风漏月。古之赏石，以米芾所倡之“瘦、漏、透、皱”唯美，力避臃肿、呆板、平淡无奇之态，以喻文人之清癯、免俗、高尚等精神面貌，以特立独行之姿秉异于世。此件山子虽为木质，但其既兼备有自然山石姿态，玲珑通透，又不失文人清赏之韵，尤包浆浓郁密实，实为可贵。
