Chinese Art A fine famille rose “boys at play” (yingxi tu) vaseChina, Qing dynasty, Jiaqing mark and possibly of the period. . Cm 23,00 x 37,00. elegant vase with historiated globular body, surmounted by a high splayed neck decorated with lively polychromy on an unusual coral background. The central band shows a series of boys intent on playful activities, each of which contains a complex visual pun, linked to the good wishes of a numerous and happy descent, such as the child holding a lotus that can be interpreted as liansheng guizi " may you continously give birth to distinguished sons". The auspicious motif of children intent on playing is a recurring theme in Jingdezhen's production since the Ming dinasty and finds its crowning in the elegant fencai production of the Qianlong and Jiaqing period.
