Carl Kauba (1865 Wien - 1922 ebenda) "Shot in the Eye". Originaltitel Bronze. Sign., schauseitig an der Plinthe betitelt. Granatserpentinsockel. Auf einer rechteckigen Plinthe stehender Indianerhäuptling beim Anzünden seiner Pfeife. Sehr detailreich und fein ausgeführte Statuette des österreichischen Bildhauers, der um 1900-1912 mit Vorliebe Indianer aus dem Wilden Westen darstellte. Ges.-H. 19,5 cm. Der berühmte Häuptling "Shot in the Eye" (um 1835 - nach 1910) aus dem Lakota-Stamm der Oglala verlor sein linkes Auge wahrscheinlich 1878 in der legendären Schlacht am Little Big Horn. Ab 1903/04 war er Darsteller in der berühmten Wild West Show des Colonel Cummins, die um 1908 auch in Europa gastierte. Vgl. Berman, Bd. 3, S. 758, Nr. 2748.
