Tang Dynasty The upper face decorated in crisp shallow relief with a heavily-armoured warrior Immortal seated on a cloud raft trailing ribbons and holding a sword across his lap, flanked at the left by a lady holding a tiered vessel, and at the right by a ferocious guardian attendant, the surface with much shallow gilding remaining except on the points of highest relief, one end of the plaque curved in a gentle crescent, the other straight, fitted box. 9cm (3 1/2in) wide.
