Dated to the 39th year of the Jiajing reign, corresponding to 1560 and of the period The dignitary modelled seated wearing an official cap, both hands held before the chest, clad in loose flowing robes, seated on a wide throne with foot stool, the reverse with the name of the maker, 'Mr Qiao, craftsman of the town of Yangchen', 32.5cm (12 3/4in) high; together with an inscribed Fahua glazed figure of Zhenwu, a tortoise and snake by his feet, late Ming dynasty, 28cm (11in) high.
