Qianlong The top carved through a layer of cinnabar lacquer to a dark green cell-pattern ground with a central medallion of eight interlocking ruyi-heads encircling a chrysanthemum flower, all framed by the Eight Buddhist Emblems among leafy peonies, camellias and other flowers under a further ruyi-border, the side edge of the top and recessed waist painted and incised in black and two tones of red with a hatched design, the shaped apron and curving legs with meandering peonies in the same technique. 33.5cm (13 1/4in) wide.
