By Uono Jisei (1883-after 1944), Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century Both trays decorated in the interior with an almost identical design of snow-laden bamboo leaves, rendered in silver and gold takamaki-e on a rich nashiji ground, the rim and underside of plain, lustrous roiro (black lacquer) and signed on the bottom corner in raised gold lacquer Jisei saku; with a double wood tomobako storage box inscribed on the cover of both the outer and inner boxes: Yukimochi kumazasa maki-e sogai (A pair of maki-e trays with designs of snow-covered Veitch's bamboo); and signed Jisei and sealed Uono Jisei.
