Meiji era (1868-1912), circa 1887 Gods of Good Fortune in the Treasure Ship; a kakejiku, ink on silk in silk mounts, the jikusaki (scroll ends) bone, an imaginary New Year scene depicting the Takarabune (Treasure Ship), its sail emblazoned with the word Takara (Treasure) and laden with a kadomatsu (cut pine sapling), the passengers or their attributes from right to left: Hotei's sack, Bishamon, Jurojin, Fukurokuju, Benten, Daikoku's mallet, and Ebisu, a minogame (bushy-tailed turtle) jumping aboard at left, a crane descending from upper left, all against a large rising sun, signed at right Gyonen hachijuichi-o Zeshin utsusu (Drawn by Zeshin, aged 81) and sealed Shin.
