Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Monkey and Bee; a section of a kakejiku (hanging scroll), now mounted as a framed and glazed painting, in ink and colour on silk, depicting a monkey clutching the branch of a maple tree in one hand and holding a bee in the other, signed Shunsui with seal Shunsui.
