19th century Finely embroidered on the front and back in gold-wrapped thread and satin stitch with a continuous scene depicting various officials and court figures paying homage to two elderly officials in a garden scene with elegant pavilions, flowering shrubs and luxurious trees interspersed with fluttering butterflies, cranes and other mythical birds, all on a deep midnight-blue ground, the pale yellow-ground satin collar, edges and cream silk sleevebands meticulously embroidered with continuous scenes depicting 'the Hundred Boys at Play', blue lining. 142cm (55 7/8in) wide x 102cm (40in) long.
