A bronze vase, possibly Tibetan or Persian, of octagonal form, inlaid with scrolling foliage in silver and gilt, above Eight Buddhist Emblems to the everted base, 26.4cm high, 1751.3g Provenance: The collection of Major Richmond Keith Molesworth Battye (1905-1958). Major Keith Battye left the army in 1938 and joined the Indian Political Service. He was posted to the North-West Frontier, working in Gilgit and Chitral, where he was called upon to adjudicate between different tribal chiefs in the area, and where he collected Sino-Tibetan items. Condition report: Surface scratches and dents consistent with age. A small split of inlaid metal near foot. 1751.3g.
