Born poor, from a young age by the traditional culture of his hometown, on the road to art. In 1923, he was taught by qi baishi. He was a professor of Hangzhou art school, a professor of central academy of fine arts, a director of Chinese artists association, and a member of the academy of Chinese painting. He is good at painting flowers, birds and eagles. Li kuchan's collection of paintings was published in 1978.
