Gaetano D'Agata (1883-1949), photos depicting children dancing with flute player. Signed on the front and hallmarked on the back. Numbered 244 Cm 22,5x18"Gaetano D'Agata is part of the group of photographers who end up on the 800 dedicated themselves to photography in southern Italy, working closely with the likes of Von Gloeden caliber.A native of Aci Sant'Antonio, moved soon to Taormina where he married a local woman and worked with Von Gloeden as witnessed by many photos of the latter set in the villa's garden.Despite the multiple trips outside Italy that led to the opening of a studio in New York, he settled in Taormina, where he opened his studio to the Corso Umberto. The fame of this artist even if confirmed over the years, was less than that of his contemporaries. Indeed, his photograph dedicated to young nude, fashion theme in the late '800, it is the least successful in what is often limited emulation of models already proposed by his colleague Von Gloeden. His most famous production is dedicated to landscapes and genre scenes, which were often printed and used as postcards, sold around the way and that they increased Taormina notoriety for its natural and unspoiled beauty.
