Edgar Degas (1834-1917) after, 'Petite danseuse de quatorze ans', (Little dancer of 14 years), bronze, dark patina, young ballerina standing on a rectangular plinth, folding her hands behind her back. Posthumous casting. Originally modeled in wax in 1880, the lifelike painted 'Little Dancer', dressed in real tutu and dancing shoes, is the only sculptural work Degas showed during his lifetime - at the Impressionist exhibition in 1881. Marked 'Degas' in the stand, late 20th c. casting, on marble plinth, h. 38 cm.
