Jack Fellows (American, B. 1941) "F-1 Camel" Signed lower left. Original Oil painting on Masonite. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting is the original painting which was published on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32c F-1 Camel stamp issued November 1, 1996. Considered one of the best fighters of its time, the British Sopwith F-1 Camel was the most numerously produced aircraft of World War I, with at least nine manufacturers constructing over 5,000 F-1 Camels. Highly maneuverable and well-armed, the plane eventually eliminated almost 1,300 German aircraft, giving the Sopwith Camel more kills than any other fighter. Image Size: 16.5 x 14 in.
