Note As explained in a hand-written note she taped on the back of the present work, Van Roekens always found it "a pleasure to see crowds of people strolling outdoors, colorful costumes and parasols." She continues, "it makes a painting motif for me at all times." Condition report: Frame: 23 1/2 x 27 1/2 x 2 7/8 in. The unlined canvas in excellent original condition with no sign of inpainting as seen under UV light. With a slight ripple in the canvas at upper right. The back of the canvas is protected by a thin layer of cardboard, covered by the stretcher: as customary in painting by Arthur Meltzer and Paulette van Roekens.
