竹香筒通景镂雕竹林七贤图，刻工以刀代笔，剜镂雕琢，展开如文人水墨画卷。竹林间，七贤形象高古，具魏晋之风。高士们或抚琴，或坐卧，或闲聊，竹林之下，喝酒纵歌，肆意酣畅。整体氛围悠闲自得，超然物外，风雅之气、山林之趣甚浓。 此香筒雕工精湛，可见多层镂雕，特别是人物、山石均以大斜刀深剜，再以短阴线琢出衣饰细节纹理，其他如松针、竹叶细节均有十分细致的表现。整器雕琢游刃有余，爽利大方，体现出明末清初嘉定竹雕的风格特点。
