potted with shallow gently curved sides rising to a six-lobed foliate rim, supported on a short slightly tapered foot, covered overall in an attractive pale greyish blue glaze suffused with a dense network of dark crackles, leaving only the mouth rim and the three spur marks on the base unglazed, revealing the dark-brown body (15.7cm wide) Footnote: Provenance: formerly in the collection of Nils Nessim (1916-1974) Note: Nils Nessim was a prominent oriental carpets dealer in Stockholm. He learnt about his trade from his knowledgeable father, Jean Benschoam, who had emigrated from Bulgaria to Sweden in the 1910s. Nils Nessim's business rapidly developed and soon started an exclusive antiques shop in the best part of Stockholm. He travelled many times to China and developed the interest in Chinese art and antiques, his collection soon became well known in Sweden. In 1959, Nils Nessim managed to receive permission from the Chinese authorities to import antiquities into Sweden from China. Part of his collections of Chinese art and antiques had been exhibited in Swedish museums.
