The first of a group of four figures, a samurai and a farmer standing back to back, a cooper and a firewood seller sitting beside them, possibly representing four social classes of the Edo period (shi-no-ko-sho), signed Tomohide, 4.5cm H; the second a monkey trainer carrying a large basket on his back, walking accompanied by two monkeys, inscribed on the base, Masayuki, 5cm H; the goddess Benten serving sake to two men kneeling beside her, an inlaid panel on the base bearing a signature Kiyotsugu, 6cm H.
