款识：“丙子孟秋木雁父仿宣”楷书款 木雁父，为铜炉制者以庄子“木雁”典故而自比。《庄子外篇·山木》记载：庄子行于山中，见大树因不成材而免于被人砍伐；后又见主人选杀不会鸣叫的雁以享客。弟子疑而问庄子：“昨日山中之木以不成材得终其天年，今主人之雁以不成材而死，先生您将何处？”庄子笑曰：“庄周我将处乎成材与不成材之间。”显示古代道家全身远祸的处事方法态度，后因以“木雁”比喻有才与无才，铜炉制者亦以此自比。
