此器物以天球仪设计为原理，工艺精妙。球形外壳内藏陀螺式同心圆环结构，使承载香灰的香盒得以固定；由于重力作用，不论炉体如何滚转，都可以保持水平状态而不使香灰溢出。采用镂空透雕工艺，雕刻宝相花纹饰有牡丹花，莲花，菊花）为主题。工艺精湛，繁而不乱，花团锦绣，花蕊采用错金点缀，富丽堂皇，鬼斧神工。
