背有朱益藩书光绪帝御题诗一首，原配红木座极尽奢华。翡翠在清中晚期由于统治者的喜爱，其价值远超其他各品类玉石器，尤以雕工精湛者为甚，本品即为料工相宜的典范，堪称瑰宝。
朱益藩（1861-1937）字艾卿，号定园，益浚弟，江西萍乡莲花人。光绪庚寅翰林，官至湖南正主考，陕西学政，上书房师傅，考试留学生阅卷大臣。曾任北京大学第三任校长、著名书法家。
