A FINE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN 'HUNTING PARTY' BARBED-RIM DISH, KANGXI China, Kangxi period (1662-1722). The lobed sides rising from a short, tapered foot to an everted barbed rim, finely painted to the interior with a central medallion enclosing an equestrian hunting scene encircled by evenly spaced flowers growing from scrolling vines and alternating below the rim with Buddhist symbols, the exterior with flowers on leafy stems, the recessed base with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua mark within a double circle. Condition: Several chips to the rim with hairlines, material filling, and touchups visible, some firing flaws. Provenance: From an old family collection in Pressburg, Austrian Empire, Slovakia, and thence by descent to the present owner. Weight: 207 g Dimensions: Diameter 20 cm
