A Mughal album page, the calligraphy signed Zaman Kani, India, early 17th century and later, ink and gouache heightened with gold on paper, recto Persian manuscript on paper with a central nasta'liq quatrain in praise of the Imam 'Ali signed al-muthnib Zaman Kani surrounded by a band of white nasta'liq and four further calligraphic panels each with a single line of nasta'liq, four words in yellow nasta'liq in the corners, laid down between white and gold rules and blue borders with gold s-motifs, verso with two paintings, one depicting the Emperor Akbar in a pavilion, the other three ladies, losses, both laid down within minor pink borders with gold s-motifs on wide buff margins decorated with gold floral sprays, later owner's notes in the upper margin, folio 28 x 18cm.
