A carved and pierced double-sided sandstone balustrade fragment, Agra, India, period of Shah Jahan mid-17th century, with flower buds alternating with flowering vases on a ground of openwork scrolling vine, 37cm. high x 67cm wide This fragment would have formed part of a balustrade, possibly from a an outdoor terrace, the vegetal theme echoing the resplendent Mughal gardens beyond.
