A tiger hunting an antelope, Kangra, Punjab Hills, 20th century, opaque pigments on paper, within an oval frame, with gilt floral design to spandrels, mounted, glazed and framed, painting 18 x 21cm. Provenance: The Hugh Brogden (1936-2019) Collection Hugh Brogden was son of the writer and scholar Sir Denis Brogden and archaeologist Olwen Phillis Francis (Lady Brogen) OBE. Educated at Cambridge, he was a Fellow at St. John's and joined the University of Essex later becoming Emiritus Professor in the Department of History specialising in American historical studies. His published works include The Longman History of the Untied States, A biography of John F Kennedy and biographies of writers Rudyard Kipling and Arthur Ransome. His private collection was offered at auction at Reeman Dansie Auctioneers on August 11 and 25 2020. Good overall
