A BRONZE BUDDHA HEAD Thailand, Ayutthaya style, 17th-19th century The face of oval and elongated shape, thin nose and wide arched eyebrows, the eyes half closed and turned downwards, elongated earlobes with jewel in the lower area, the head surmounted by a crown worked in relief with floral motifs, in the center of the skull the usnisha protuberance, base in green marble. 28 cm high Provenance: Italian private collection. This head exemplifies the Phra Chao Song Khruang typology, literally "A Lord wearing ornaments", recognizable as such by the presence of jewels, usually absent in the representation of the Buddha.
