A FAMILLE ROSE PALETTE 'ROOSTERS, PHEASANTS AND PIGEONS' PORCELAIN SHALLOW DISH China, Republic / Minguo Period, 20th century Decorated in the famille rose palette with a landscape planted with a blossoming plum tree and animated with roosters, chicks, flying pigeons and pheasants. The outer rim is adorned with a flower pattern. The below is inscribed with an apocryphal Qianlong mark in blue within a double square. D: 26,6 cm Provenance: > Private collection; > Les Filles de Canton, French-Canadian Women Missionaries based in Canton, China, circa 1910-1946. All these items were displayed at the Missionaries of Notre Dame des Anges Museum in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. These Sisters also established an emergency Hospital for the Chinese community in Montreal during the influenza epidemic of 1917-18-19.
