Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Makri rug, Southwest Anatolia, third quarter 19th century. Two recognizable vertical hexagonal panels and a wide palette of bright hues identify this well-known type. The presence of architectural spandrels above the two panels may indicate that this was made as a prayer rug. The cheerful rug is made even more lively by diverse elements in the two panels. Exhibited and Published: Dodds and Eiland, Jr., eds.; ORIENTAL RUGS FROM ATLANTIC COLLECTIONS, p. 59, fig. 59, ICOC, Philadelphia, 1996. Size: 3'4'' x 4'11'' (102 x 150 cm). Weight: 7 lbs. Material: wool pile, wool warp, wool weft.
