Dimensions: 30" H x 18-1/2" W Large Chinese gilt bronze gu beaker vase with trumpet-shaped opening erupting from the bulbous cavity. Evenly placed lion masks on the bulbous body holding loose rings. The modular design allows for the removal of the flared neck portion, which is flanked with two enormous phoenix handles. Several Qilin effigies circumscribe the splayed footing to serve as supports. Gilt banded on the lips, collar, foot, and base. The surface is richly decorated with a zoomorphic mask design, archaic geometrical patterns, simulating the Tao-tie seeing eyes, and a dense conglomeration of lotus buds and tendrils, all against the turquoise blue ground. Mark on base, a protruding six script -KaiShu- characters reign mark enclosed within a rectangular frame border, Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of Great Qing.
