PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 4.5 cm, Diam.: 20 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Chenghua Blue & white Hibiscus Motif Porcelain Plate on Stand. The plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick, large, raised on correspondence footed ring base and slight concave. The dish wall is finely carved in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of flowers blossom with fresh foliage surround the plate. Each section mark off and enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The blue and white glaze on this vase is rather fresh and natural while the color is rich and brilliant. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rectangles lines. Made in The Years Chenghua Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
