PROVENANCE: John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres. Dimensions: Height: 10 cm, Diam.: 20.5 cm Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Red Glazed Flowers Motif Porcelain Bowl. The bowl has an open mouth, rounded lip rim, deep arced body, raised with round foot ring and slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the Red glazed fine color, depicted of flowers blooms interspersed foliage, arrays of tropical leaves patterns, enclosed with thrashing Lishui wavy waves and interlocking key fret. The glaze is lustrous and glittering, giving a sense of fresh and bright. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings lines. Made in The Years Xuande Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
